Yellow onion

Step 1

Peel & slice the onions into thin strips.

Step 2

Melt a dab of butter in an oven-proof pot of casserole, over medium heat. Add the onions. Season with salt & pepper. Cook for 20-25 min, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown & stewed.

White wine
Flour (all-purpose)

Step 3

Deglaze with white wine & stir. Add the flour & stir again.

Vegetable bouillon (cube)

Step 4

Add the veggie stock cube & 250 ml of hot water per serving. Stir to dissolve the stock cube. Bring to a boil, then cover & continue cooking for another 20-25 min, over low heat. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200°C.

Country bread (sliced)
Shredded cheese

Step 5

Remove the soup from the hob. Top with the bread slices & grated cheese. Bake in the oven for 5-6 min at 200°C or on grill mode.

Step 6

Once the cheese is golden brown on top, remove the casserole from the oven. Serve the warm onion soup in a bowl & enjoy !
