Stovetop, Frying pan, Oven
Step 1
If needed, defrost your cod. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Prepare the batter : in a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt & pepper. Mix it all together. Slowly whisk in the beer until a smooth batter forms.
Step 2
On a sheet tray lined with parchment paper, arrange frozen French fries in an even layer. Bake in the oven at 220°C according to package instructions, until golden & crisp.
Step 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Test the frying oil by adding in a small drop of batter. If it crisps up with lots of bubbles, it’s ready !
Step 4
Dredge the cod it in the beer batter. Shake off the excess batter & carefully add the cod to the oil. Fry the fish 3-4 minutes on each side until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Season with salt.
Step 5
Remove the French fries from the oven and serve them alongside the fried fish and some tartar sauce for dipping. Add fresh lemon juice if you have some. Enjoy !
