Everyone in your house will fight for a piece of this cake!
Oven, Stovetop, Pot (small)
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Combine the soften butter, sugar & a pinch of salt in a bowl.
Step 2
Add the eggs one by one & mix using a whisk.
Step 3
Add the baking powder & flour. Mix until smooth.
Step 4
Divide the batter into two bowls. In one of the bowls, add the sifted cocoa powder & mix.
Step 5
Grease a loaf pan with butter (we used a 29 x 10 cm dish here) & add the batter, alternating between both.
Step 6
Using the tip of a knife, swirl the batter around to create the marble effect.
Step 7
Bake for 40 min at 180°C.
Step 8
In the meantime, make the frosting. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave.
Step 9
Chop the almonds using a knife.
Step 10
Pour the oil in the melted chocolate. Add a pinch of salt, chopped almonds & mix.
Step 11
Once the loaf is golden, plant the tip of a knife into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean, the loaf is ready, otherwise, bake it for another 2-3 min. Remove from the loaf tin & let it cool completely.
Step 12
Pour the frosting on the cooled cake & enjoy !
