Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Peel & finely chop the onions.
Step 2
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large pan, over high heat. Add the onions & grated garlic. Sauté for 2 min, stirring.
Step 3
Add the ground beef & brown for 4 min, breaking the bits down with a spoon.
Step 4
Add the tomato purée & thyme. Season with salt & pepper & stir to combine. Add the basil leaves & stir once more. Cover & leave to simmer over low heat while you prepare the bechamel sauce.
Step 5
Prepare the bechamel sauce. In a pot, melt the butter, over low heat. Add the corn starch & whisk vividly.
Step 6
Slowly pour the milk into the pot, continuously whisking, until you obtain a smooth & thick crêpe batter consistency. Season with salt, pepper & a pinch of nutmeg (optional). Set aside.
Step 7
Once the bolognese mix is ready, remove it from the heat.
Step 8
In an oven-proof dish, add a first layer of bechamel followed by a layer of raw lasagna sheets, bolognese sauce & mozzarella torn into pieces. Repeat for another 2 layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of bechamel & mozzarella. Bake for 40 min at 180°C.
Step 9
Once the cheese has melted & the top is golden brown, remove the dish from the oven. Serve the lasagna with a side of green salad & enjoy !
