Step 1

Preheat the oven to 220°C. Add the softened butter and sugar* to a large bowl and mix to combine. Add the eggs and a pinch of salt and mix again. *Check out our tips for this step

Flour (all-purpose)

Step 2

Optional: Replace 1/4 of the flour with almond flour, for even more flavor and moisture. Add the flour (and almond flour if you use) to the butter/sugar mixture and combine.

Wash and peel the apples. Cut into quarters.

Place half the apples in the bottom of the cake pan, pour in the batter and add in the rest of the apples. Sprinkle with a teaspoon of sugar. Optional: add sliced almonds on top.

Step 5

Bake for 10 minutes at 220°C. then lower to 180°C and cook for another 30 minutes.

Step 6

Insert a toothpick to make sure it is cooked through. The toothpick should come out clean! Wait at least 10 minutes before serving. Tip: It's even better the next day! Enjoy!
