Butter (unsalted)

Step 1

Take the butter out of the fridge so gets to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Flour (all-purpose)
Sugar (granulated)
Butter (unsalted)

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, add: the flour, sugar,* a pinch of salt and the butter. Rub everything together using your fingers until you have a sandy texture. *Check out our tips for this step

Pear
Apple

Step 3

Wash and peel the apples and pears. Chop in quarters, then cubes.

Step 4

Add them to an oven-proof dish (we used a 20 x 20 cm dish here), a proportionate size to the quantity of fruit. The ideal amount of fruit in a crumble is a 4-5cm layer.

Step 5

Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 6

Remove the crumble when the top is nice and golden. Eat hot or cold, alone or with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of crème fraîche.
