recipe

  • Step 1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  • Step 2
Cook the potatoes in a pot of salted boiling water for 20 minutes, or until tender.
  • Step 3
Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a bowl and mash.
  • Step 4
Make a hole in the center of the potatoes and add the egg yolk and flour. Mix using a wooden spoon and then form into a ball using your hands.
  • Step 5
Cut the dough in half roll each piece into a thick log using your hands.
  • Step 6
Cut the logs in half and roll out each piece into a longer, thinner log. Cut into small pieces and form the gnocchi using a gnocchi board or the back of a fork.
  • Step 7
Heat a pot of water and when it comes to a boil, add a pinch of salt. Add the gnocchi and cook in the water for about 2 minutes.
  • Step 8
Remove the gnocchi after 2 minutes (they should float) and drain.
  • Step 9
Heat a pan on medium-high heat and add a dab of butter. Let it get slightly darker to make a brown butter sauce.
  • Step 10
Add the gnocchi to the pan and cook for 4 minutes on medium heat until golden. Optional: Add a clove of garlic to the pan for flavor.
  • Step 11
Serve and season according to your taste. Enjoy!
