  • Step 1
    Boil a large pot of water. Cut the broccoli into medium-sized florets*. *Check out our tips for this step
  • Step 2
    Add the broccoli to the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes, or until fork tender.
  • Step 3
    In the meantime, chop the shallots.
  • Step 4
    In a pan on medium heat, melt a dab of butter (1 teaspoon per person) and cook the shallots for 2 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Add the rest of the butter (1 more teaspoon per person), the flank steak and cook for 2 minutes on each side. Cook longer according to how you like your meat cooked.
  • Step 6
    Season with salt & pepper. Remove the steak from the pan once cooked to your liking. Add some water to the pan to deglaze. Let the jus reduce for 2 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Add the steak back to the pan with the jus.
  • Step 8
    Drain the broccoli and mash it until smooth with the rest of the butter (2 teaspoons per person). Season with salt & pepper.
  • Step 9
    Slice the steak.
  • Step 10
    Serve the meat with the mashed broccoli and the jus from the pan. Enjoy!
