recipe
- Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a mixing bol, add : the softened butter, sugar* & a pinch of salt. Stir to combine. *Check out our tips for this step - Step 2
Add the eggs one by one, whilst whisking. - Step 3
Add the baking powder & flour. Mix until fully combined & smooth. - Step 4
Divide the batter into two separate mixing bowls. In one of the mixing bowls, sift the cocoa powder. Stir using a spatula. - Step 5
Generously grease a loaf tin (we used a 29 x 10 cm dish here) with butter. Pour the cake batters into the tin, alternating layers between the chocolate batter & the plain batter. Draw spirals using the tip of a knife to create the marbled effect. Bake for 40 min at 180°C. - Step 6
In the meantime, prepare the rocher frosting. Break the chocolate into squares & melt it in a bain-marie or in the microwave. - Step 7
Chop the almonds. - Step 8
Once the chocolate is melted, add the oil. Stir until combined & glossy. Add a pinch of salt & the chopped almond. Stir to combine. - Step 9
Once the loaf is golden, plant the tip of a knife into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean, the loaf is ready, otherwise, bake it for another 2-3 min. Leave the Chocolate Marble Loaf to cool before removing it from the tin. Pour the rocher frosting on top of the loaf & enjoy !

If you wish to reduce sugar quantities, you can remove up to ⅓ of the sugar in this recipe without altering flavor.
